Pug
An ancient breed originally from China, these small-sized and medium-energy dogs can grow to between 12-16 pounds and live an average of 12-16 years. They are known as the clowns of the canine world because of their naughty and funny nature. Originally bred to be a lap dog, the Pug thrives on human companionship. This ancient breed has been keeping its people company since before the birth of Jesus. Those distinctive wrinkle patterns resembles the Chinese character for prince. The Pug is never happier than when spending time with his human family, often following someone from room to room. He is welcome wherever he goes, with a handsome, smooth-coated frame in shades of tan, gray, and black, and with a black mask accenting his adorable wrinkled face.

Basic Care
Pugs are relatively low-maintenance dogs. However, they do require some regular, basic care to keep them happy and healthy. Grooming a Pug is easy. Brush his/her smooth double coat weekly to remove dead hair. And you will remove lots of it, because Pugs shed heavily. Regular brushing will control the amount of shed hair that ends up in your home and on your clothes. The Pug’s facial wrinkles must be cleaned frequently. With the good quality dog shampoos, you can bathe a Pug 2 - 3 times a month.

Health Information
The Pugs are prone to a condition called brachycephalic syndrome, characterized by pinched nostrils and an elongated soft palate. Because of this, Pugs can have breathing difficulties, especially in hot or humid weather or if they become overweight.
